Panthers Prep For National Showcase

10/11/2006 - The Panthers are heading to Youngstown, OH this
weekend to participate in the 4th annual National ACHA DII
Showcase. The showcase features sixteen “club” teams from across
the country from as far as Florida’s Gulf Coast, each playing
three games over the course of three days. Unlike a tournament,
where wins and losses ultimately determine a champion, the
showcase functions merely to provide teams with a national stage
on which to spotlight their talent.
“This (showcase) is huge for our program.” Says Panthers
GM/President/Defenseman, Kyle Ratayczak. “We get to promote our
program on a national stage and really get the word out there
that not only does Milwaukee have a hockey team, but we’re not
too bad.”
This year’s showcase will feature teams from the Universities of
Texas at Austin, Rowan, Temple, Life, Bowling Green, Dayton,
DePaul, Lindenwood, Florida Gulf Coast, Ohio State, St.
Joseph’s, Siena, Toledo, Wagner, and William Patterson.
Milwaukee Open’s on Friday evening with Rowan University at 5pm.
“We get to play against and see teams that we wouldn’t see
anywhere else and if we can be competitive and come home having
made a few connections with other programs then it’s a success.”
Says Ratayczak.
Rounding out their schedule, the Panthers will play Bowling
Green on Saturday, and Temple University on Sunday.
